Big, open dining space. Great service, great food. Super flavorful and delicious. The fresh chips and guacamole are fantastic, and we really enjoyed the yellowfin tostada.

Let's talk about the famed Wax Myrtle's, AKA one of the rooftops frequented by the brunch fanatics in Austin. Long story short? The vibes are enough to want to come. The food is okay. The staff is nice and casual without being too inattentive. I came on my birthday (albeit last month) and they gave me and my partner complimentary bubbly (Woo!). The table we sat at was initially not wiped down, but hey, simple mistake and they took care of it. We had a few choices on the menu, but if we're going to be honest, nothing was crazy delicious. Even what my waiter recommended (the octopus cocktail) was just okay, but nothing was actually bad. But I wanna stress something about my 4 stars... you really aren't coming for the food. You're coming here because you want to bring a good number of friends to gossip, drink some drinks, and chat on a rooftop with comfy seats. Not hard to reserve, great views, and can fit a good number of people. There are cabana style seatings as well. The staff aren't at that overly fancy level where you feel uncomfortable talking too loud or that you need to bust out the charm school table etiquette, but they also aren't bad at all (and by bad I mean P6 rooftop bad). What's cute about the place is that there are themed cocktails and game day deals. It's a cute vibe for sure. Bring your friends on a beautiful morning to have some drinks and you'll have a great time.

We stopped in here after a parade downtown. I have been wanting to check out their patio for quite some time. There are tons of small private, seating spaces inside and on the patio. There is even a pool with poolside service. We decided to sit inside and we're promised someone would come over but service was very slow. We ended up ordering at the bar. The drinks were delicious and the ceviche was so good. I forgot to take a picture before we ate it. I would definitely consider returning and enjoying the beautiful patio setting. Doesn't seem like a place you want to go if you are starving, but definitely a treat for rooftop views. There was a DJ and looks like it would be a great date spot.

Wax Myrtle's has been on my list for the longest time because of the rooftop views. Yesterday, I finally got a chance to go to happy hour with some friends. I was a little confused when finding the building, but I paid attention to Google Maps and entered the entrance of the Thompson Hotel. Heading to the elevator, Wax Myrtle's is on the 4th floor. We arrived at 5 p.m. and did not need a reservation as there were many tables available. Unfortunately, the weather was not ideal as it was humid and windy outside, so we sat inside towards the back of the room to distance ourselves from the live music in the front of the room. There were two musicians singing and playing guitar, but since we wanted time to talk and catch up we sat towards the back. The happy hour menu was small but it made our decision on what to order very quick. We ordered the nachos 2 times and all ordered margaritas. The margaritas were about $8. They were served in beautiful green glasses with a choice of salt or tajin on the rim. The drink was mixed well and very refreshing! The nachos were not spicy at all, but I did like how it had a combination of avocados, beans, and greens! Later on, we checked out the rooftop which had amazing views and comfy cabanas! Next time I would love to have a table out here when the weather is better. I would come again for happy hour!

Cute spot!! We visited during lunch on a weekday and sat outside. Very nice views and they've got a pool too. The pool area was a lot smaller than ig photos made it appear, btw. Service was good. We got apps and drinks only. We thought our plates were bland and underwhelming and wish we'd chosen something else. Oh well, we were there for the experience.
